ロッキード事件、上院委員会に投込まれたロッキード社の機密資料により開かれた上院外交委・多国籍企業小委員会の公聴会で、ロッキード社副社長のＡ．Ｃ．コーチャンが証言し、ＩＤ社を通じ200万ドルを日本高官に流したこと、児玉誉士夫を通じて小佐野賢治と接触したこと、丸紅役員2人が日本政府高官への資料提供を進言したことなどを明らかにする。

ロッキード事件で、国際興業の小佐野賢治社主、全日空の若狭得治社長、渡辺尚次副社長の証人喚問が行われる。小佐野賢治は事件との関係を否定し、米側証言を「事実でなく虚偽でございます」と言い切り、コーチャンの訪問を受け助力を依頼されたことは認めながら対応については聞き流したとし、紹介者については「記憶にございません」と述べる。「記憶にございません」は流行語になる。
